Case Study — Geospatial Application

Geospatial Data Exploration Platform

IT Sanctuary built an interactive map-based application that allowed users to select any location, define a search radius, and discover relevant geological and mining information nearby.

The application brought together location-based data such as mineral deposits, mines, geological features, and natural anomalies and presented it through a simple visual exploration experience.

Explore What’s Around Any Location

The core interaction was intentionally simple: choose a point on the map, define the area you want to explore, and let the application surface what is known nearby.

Instead of searching through separate datasets, users could explore mineral deposits, mining sites, geological features, and unusual natural observations around a selected location from one interface.

Turn Complex Geospatial Data Into Answers

Geospatial applications become difficult when users are forced to understand the structure of the data before they can use it.

This application reversed that relationship. The user started with a question — what exists around this location? — and the system searched across relevant location-based information and returned a clear set of nearby results.

The result was a more intuitive way to explore complex geological and mining data without requiring users to manually search multiple datasets.

Built for Spatial Discovery

The application was designed around spatial relationships rather than traditional lists and forms.

Users could move naturally between a selected location, nearby discoveries, individual records, and broader exploration areas. Radius-based search made it possible to understand not only what existed at one exact coordinate, but what surrounded it.

This made the platform useful for exploratory research, location comparison, and discovering relationships that would be difficult to notice in a conventional data table.

  • Radius-Based Search

Explore everything within a configurable distance from a selected point.

  • Multi-Source Data

Bring different geospatial datasets together in one exploration experience.

  • Interactive Mapping

Move between locations, nearby discoveries, and detailed records visually.

  • Spatial Discovery

Surface relationships that are difficult to find in conventional tables.
